PAINTINGS OF THE NIGHT SKY
04 March – 15 March 2014
Kudos Gallery, Sydney

In 228 Paintings of the Night Sky a collection from the Art Gallery of NSW has been rendered as pine and canvas silhouettes, they sit leaning against a wall. For the first few days the number of silhouettes grows and then a sign is introduced, “PLEASE HELP YOURSELF TO A PAINTING”, and the works are disseminated, taken to their new homes, where they lean against unknown walls, absorbing all light, providing like a black-hole a window onto a dispassionate vacuum of meaning.

As an action, of things coming together and then disintegrating, the original motivation for this work was to erase and exhale.
